The National Human Rights Commission of Korea Issue a Statement on the Death of Ha Joong Keun

On November 27, the National Human Rights Commission of Korea finally issued its official statement regarding the death of Ha Joong Keun, 119 days after his death. Ha Joong Keun died as a result of severe beating by riot police on August 1, 2,006.

The National Human Rights Commission of Korea acknowledged that riot police had used excessive violence to break up the demonstration on the day of Ha Joong Keun died and further it abused banning of notification to disburse the demonstrations. The Commission acknowledged that Ha Joong Keun died during the riot police
