Dump Truck Drivers on Strike over Implementation of New Construction Equipment Legislation to Ensure:

1.        8 Hour Work Day
2.        Transfer Fuel Cost from Workers to Construction Companies
3.        Payment for Work Completed within 16 Days.


On June 16, 2008 18,000 Dump Truck Drivers affiliated to the Korean Construction Workers Union of the Korean Federation of Construction Industry Trade Unions (KFCITU) went on strike calling on construction transportation companies to implement the guidelines related to the legislation on construction equipment.  The bill was passed last July and the guidelines were introduced by the South Korean government in consultations with trade unions.
